Q: My child needs school supplies.  Who is eligible to receive the supplies?  Where and how do I get them?

A: If your child will be in Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 5 and is eligible for the federally-funded free and reduced price lunch program, they will be able to receive these free school supplies.  For the Children provides basic school supplies to elementary schools in the following school districts in Central Texas.

  1. Austin
  2. Del Valle
  3. Eanes
  4. Hayes
  5. Lago Vista
  6. Lake Travis
  7. Leander
  8. Manor
  9. Pflugerville
  10. Round Rock

Contact your child's school counselor, principal or assistant principal about obtaining supplies.

Q: My child is eligible for the federally-funded school lunch program but is not in one of the grades described above. Are they still able to receive free school supplies?

A: No. However you may contact your child's school counselor, principal or assistant principal to determine if there are supplies available from another resource.

Q: When will the school supplies be available?

A: The school supplies will be available by the first day of school.

Q: My child does not attend a school in one of the districts listed above or is in a private school. Where can I obtain supplies for my child?

A: Contact your child's school counselor, principal or assistant principal to determine if there are supplies available from another resource.

Q: I went to my child's school for school supplies, but they were out.  Can I get supplies somewhere else?

A: Unfortunately, For the Children only has a limited amount of school supplies available.  Once the supplies are distributed, there are not any more available from For the Children until the next school year.  Contact your child's school counselor, principal or assistant principal to determine if there are supplies available from another resource.

Q: Does For The Children conduct any audits to ensure the integrity of it's financial affairs?

A: Yes. For the Children regularly receives financial audits from third party accountants. Click here to view our latest Independent Auditor's Report from December 2009. Also, you may click hereto view the Form 990 for the year ended 2010.
